Art Facilitator Pathway (Pilot Programme)

We have secured funding from South Gloucestershire Council to pilot an innovative Art Facilitator Pathway course, designed for and co-produced by people with learning disabilities to provide an accessible training pathway into creative facilitation and employment opportunities.

This exciting opportunity invites creative adults in South Gloucestershire with a learning disability to join us in developing this new training programme, which will lead to an externally recognised qualification as an Art Facilitator.

What is an Art Facilitator?

An Art Facilitator:

  • Plans and leads creative sessions
  • Supports people to express themselves through art
  • Acts as a guide or mentor rather than a traditional teacher
  • Creates inclusive and accessible learning environments

What will participants do?

As part of the co-production group, individuals will:

  • Develop ways to support others in creative activities
  • Work together to design the course content
  • Explore different communication styles
  • Create guidance for planning art sessions
  • Build confidence in leading and facilitating

Participants will also receive coaching and be credited for their contribution to making the course.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are aged 18 or over
  • Have a learning disability
  • Live in South Gloucestershire

This opportunity is open to both people supported by Milestones Trust and those who are not currently using our services. We welcome people of all abilities and levels of need, including those with limited or no verbal communication.
