Volunteer with us

Why volunteer with us?

In our experience, volunteering provides a real sense of purpose, achievement and wellbeing, not only for you but for the people you volunteer with. It’s a fun and easy way to share your interests with a diverse group of people. It’s also a great way to build confidence, get involved in your local community, and show commitment – all of which looks good on a CV. But don’t just take our word for it, see what some of our past and present volunteers have to say.

The hours our volunteers give enrich the lives and wellbeing of the people we support through conversation, laughter, shared experiences and encouraging their independence. Taking the time to build a rapport with someone reaps many rewards for them and for you.

Volunteering opportunities

I like to think that I did help the people the Trust supports by giving my time, but I am sure that they helped me much more

What do our volunteers do?

The interests of the people we support are as diverse as they are, so you’ll be supporting them to meet their goals, engage in meaningful activities, and fulfil their potential. Here are some activities you could be involved in if you volunteer with us. If you have anything you’re interested in or are good at, make sure you let us know when you apply.

Days out

You could be accompanying the person you support on fun days out such as trips to the cinema or theatre, walks in the park or to cheer on their favourite sports team.

Help at home

As a volunteer, you could be supporting someone in their homes to get involved in activities like baking, gardening, arts and crafts or improving their computer skills.

Companionship

The person you support may want you to help them attend a regular exercise class or social club, go swimming or visit the local amenities.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in finding out more, the next step is to get in touch. The easiest way to do this is to fill in the expression of interest form on this page. It’s not a commitment to anything but will just allow us to give you a call to find out more about you. We have also compiled a helpful list of FAQs, which you can download here.

If you would prefer, you can contact our volunteering team directly.

    Corporate volunteering

We have much to offer when it comes to corporate volunteering opportunities and welcome multinational companies to small local businesses interested in local organisations. We understand CSR, and have been organising corporate volunteer days for more than five years. Rest assured, we’ll work with you at every stage to make sure your volunteering experience runs smoothly. Examples of successful corporate team days we’ve run include:

    • building a sensory garden and raised beds
    • painting and decorating
    • IT and business skills
    • general gardening duties

    Get in touch

If you or your team want to have a positive impact on an individual or a service, we’d love to hear from you. For an informal chat, or to find out more about current projects or opportunities that might suit, give our volunteering team a call or fill out an expression of interest form.
