Who we support

Mental Health is everyone’s business

Over the course of their lives everyone struggles or has a challenge with their mental wellbeing, and some people experience a mental illness. In fact, approximately 1 in 4 people in England experience a mental health problem each year (1).

Recovery

Our focus for mental health is recovery.

All our services aim to achieve the support people want, to prevent relapse and promote good health, reduce time spent in hospital, and to promote skills and self-awareness in order for a person to live a fulfilling life. There is a focus on positive relationships, strengths and wellbeing.

The ultimate goal for most people is to have secure accommodation and stable mental health, so our focus is on developing skills and coping strategies to support this, as people move through services towards being as independent as they can be.

Each journey to recovery is unique

That’s why we put the person at the centre of their own support on their road to recovery, in residential settings that are staffed around the clock. We provide an environment where people can focus on their abilities and skills to achieve personal goals and a sense of identity.

We know our approach works – we’ve reduced psychiatric hospitalisations and helped people live more effectively in their community through education and support networks.

We support Mental Health Awareness Weeks every year and share the stories of those we support to spread awareness. Glen has shared his fantastic story with us about how changing to a healthy diet and lifestyle has helped increase his mood, his state of mind and has allowed him to regain his self-worth. My medication can make me feel doped up at times, but running and healthy food really helps to combat that, giving me my energy back and basically making me feel alive again
