Painting the way
Lacey's story
Lacey appears to find genuine joy in attending the art group, and this sense of enjoyment shines through in both her creative process and the artwork she produces.
Lacey has been a valued member of Milestones Trust’s art group since December 2025. Lacey is a fearless and prolific painter, and the more time you spend with her work, the more details and layers seem to emerge.
While Lacey has enjoyed experimenting with a variety of artistic techniques, painting remains her favourite medium and one she continually returns to. We often use paper plates as paint palettes, and Lacey has creatively begun incorporating these into her artwork, adding texture and dimension to her pieces.

Lacey also explored gel plate printing alongside one of the art group volunteers. One of her prints was later selected as the image for a thank-you card created for the volunteer team, highlighting both her creativity and the impact of her work within the group.
In May, Lacey began working with paint sticks, embracing their bold and vibrant colours. She has created artwork on a wide range of surfaces, including paper, canvas, cardboard, and even old maps. The map project gave Lacey the opportunity to work on a much larger scale than usual, and her final piece evolved over approximately three sessions.

The art group are hoping to exhibit work at Glenside Museum later this year, and the completed map would be a wonderful addition to the exhibition. It demonstrates Lacey’s confidence, creativity, and willingness to explore new possibilities in her art practice.
